Silicone rubber can be used for many purposes with the laser cutter such as custom gaskets for a variety of mechanical and chemical purposes, the tolerance for this process can vary depending on the composition and thickness of the material as rubber is a strong insulator so the material will char up more than others when it is cut, this char can be cleaned off after it is cut. This is the rubber we generally recommend if you are looking to cut it into a shape.
Stamp rubber is great for doing….RUBBER STAMPS! Break free from the idea that a stamp has to be a little 1″x1″ shape, you can make stamps at a full 8.5″x11″ easily and larger, it just becomes a question of sourcing larger sheets of material. We engrave this material so that all the areas where you don’t want ink will be engraved or “lowered” so that only the “raised” parts of the stamp contact the paper or whatever you are stamping your awesome giant stamp onto. Generally we recommend also cutting a piece of 6mm (1/4″) or 12mm (1/2″) MDF that you can adhere a backing piece to in order to make it rigid, from there you can also glue a second block to use as a handle or just screw a literal handle into the back if it is big enough. We recommend using the “odorless” version of this material which we stock as the “normal” version is a big stinko when engraved.
